What the heck is Alexander talking about. The truth of the fact that people care little for other's property has nothing to do with a meanness of spirit, but a relaization that there are those who refuse to respect themselves or others in any way.
It isn't the head of the aware that misleads the good heart, but the spirit of charity has limitations to the hand so often smacked for the offer.
Maybe he would like to rebuild there himself and make a go of it.
