Heh. So when I read that, I had to go find out who it was. And it was David Brin.

Here's a Reddit conversation from his point of view. I don't think it was... completely even-handed.

Now, I have been reading both you and Brin since I was very young. You're both excellent overall, with higher and lower points.

But I think that both human nature and the natural world are less tractable than Brin seems to sense â€" and if I had to pick a better judge of human character, it'd have to be you. Brin writes people in situations â€" you write people in relationships.

And as for being saved by demigods (as he criticizes) â€" let me just say Jen Wolling and Pedro Manella (Earth, a great book). The critique is also not completely fair when one is familiar with the real span of your works. ;)
