Self-Important Clown
August 17, 2012 | 05:02 PM Heh. So when I read that, I had to go find out who it was. And it was David Brin. Here's a Reddit conversation from his point of view. I don't think it was... completely even-handed. http://www.reddit.com/r/scifi/comments/wnvua/anyone_go_to_the_comic_con_panel_a_wrinkle_in/ Now, I have been reading both you and Brin since I was very young. You're both excellent overall, with higher and lower points. But I think that both human nature and the natural world are less tractable than Brin seems to sense â€" and if I had to pick a better judge of human character, it'd have to be you. Brin writes people in situations â€" you write people in relationships. And as for being saved by demigods (as he criticizes) â€" let me just say Jen Wolling and Pedro Manella (Earth, a great book). The critique is also not completely fair when one is familiar with the real span of your works. ;) Prufrock |
