This amendment does not legalize gay marriage. If it fails, NOTHING CHANGES AT ALL. If it passes, all sorts of problems emerge for gay couples with children (who is the guardian? who gets insurance?) but more than 3/4 of the people who would be affected ARE STRAIGHT. That is, the children of unmarried couples, unmarried women who no longer have access to domestic violence protections, seniors who stay unmarried to their new partners but need coverage. I am all for family values but this is an evil law meant to divide families, and it should be defeated.
