Time for a new party

Dear Editor,

While I still have hope for the Republican Party in Guilford County and North Carolina, I have completely given up hope for the GOP nationally.

At a time when our nation is threatened by the most lawless and traitorous president in our history, the Republican Party in Congress is headed up by two very weak and cowardly men – John Boehner and Mitch McConnell. Neither of these men has the courage, let alone the intelligence, to stand up to a man who is systematically destroying our economy and our society. I'm sure that if and when Obama prays, he must surely thank his god for blessing him with two such inept men to negotiate against.

I had high hopes that both Boehner and McConnell would be replaced as GOP leaders in the new Congress, but, when that didn't happen, it simply became a matter of time before the Republicans starting caving into the Democrats on everything from the contrived "fiscal cliff" crisis to raising the debt ceiling, with amnesty and gun control probably being next on Obama's hit list.

If a new party were to emerge from the shambles of the current Republican Party (such as a constitution party or conservative party), I would be the first to join. Granted, it might take several years for such a new party to become viable nationally. But, then again, given the incompetence of the current GOP leadership, a new, truly conservative party might take off like a rocket.

For the sake of our beleaguered country, I hope and pray we have the chance to find out soon.
