Um, Obama ain't in the article

I tried to find "Obama" in this review, but, dang it, couldn't find one place that Card mentioned him or the recent election.
If you've been reading Card's articles for any amount of time, it's obvious that when Card wants to criticize someone's policies or ideas (like Romney's take on immigration or Obama's foreign policy), he doesn't get all sly and vague and ramp up his innuendo. He just says that so-and-so is being an idiot.
So it appears you're reading things into this essay that just aren't there.
Personally, it's time I read THE RISE AND FALL. I have neglected that most important time in our history. I'm looking forward to this book.
