Insane. Absurd. To spend $450,000 on what amounts to nothing more than paperwork is an affront to High Point Citizens.

When will High Point stop spending money on studies and "visions" and start putting that money into tangible assets?

$450,000 would be a good start on an actual convention center which could anchor the downtown center, bringing people back downtown which would then create demand for hotels, restaurants and shops. Wilmington finally stopped wasting money on "visions" and actually did something - their new convention center booked 113 events in its first year: http://www.starnewsonline.com/article/20120904/ARTICLES/120909908

I suggest that the High Point City Council get on a bus (maybe use a PART bus) and travel over to Winston Salem or down to Charlotte. They won't need $450,000 to waste on somebody's "vision." They can look out the bus windows and see for themselves how those cities reinvented themselves and rebuilt their downtown districts.
