County Salaries July 05, 2012 | 04:45 PM
I previously worked in Guilford County government when it was actually a good place to work. The majority of county employees (especially public health employees) care about what they do and work to make a difference in the lives of Guilford County citizens. Don't tell me that after 5 years with no pay increase, these employees don't deserve a cost of living increase. If the voters would approve a sales tax increase, the property owners would not have to foot the bill for all of these ridiculous school bonds. Last year Guilford County Schools consumed 54% of the county budget. The remaining 46% was split by Public Health, Social Services, Emergency Services and the Sherrif's Department. Those of you complaining about salaries should realize that in the future these departments will be manned by incompetent, minimal salaried employees that barely finished college. All of the brilliant minds that actually care are leaving.
