Using religion to validate your views and, by proxy, forcing them upon others, is not only the height of arrogance, but dangerous in the extreme. It twists the minds of impressionable youth, and in my view, should be considered a form of abuse or assault. Decisions like this need to be made using common sense, and facts, not dogma and fear.
The main purpose in denying a married status to gay couples is so that ignorant people like YOU can punish or otherwise persecute individuals who's lifestyle conflicts with your misguided belief that it is wrong. I say misguided, because outside of Leviticus, there is no mention of homosexuality being wrong. It is the height of hypocrisy to take one small portion of a defunct piece of fiction and use that as the central point for your beliefs, without embracing the rest of the narrative as a whole. I don't think I need to instruct you on the many other atrocities that are put forth in Leviticus.
Providing the same legal benefits that marriage offers to gay couples is the same thing as giving women the right to vote, or blacks the right to own land, or ending slavery. It comes down to a basic civil right of all PEOPLE.
