Novel Idea April 27, 2008 | 10:48 PM
I have a novel idea. How about allowing only homeowners to vote on the school bond referendum? Since the bonds will be paid for through an increase in property taxes, why then should a resident not financially impacted by the initiative be allowed to participate in the decision? Seems logical to me. Why should the decision to raise my property taxes lie in someone else's hands - taxation through misrepresentation...Why should it fall to the homeowners to bear the burden of a tax increase that directly benefits all of the citizens in this county with children enrolled in the public school system? It's not fair or equitable.
