Learning to Change

When I realized The Rhino Times was in deep financial trouble in May of last year, I began stopping in Fisher Park on my way to work and praying for a few minutes. Those prayers, along with the prayers of many others, must have gotten us all the way to today, because even a fool looking at our financial situation last May could have told you we were done for.

Equal Opportunity For Beer Drinkers

We don't qualify for government-required advertising in newspapers because we don't have paid circulation, so we don't have a dog in the fight over Senate Bill 186 that state Sen. Putting Rouge On High Point Road Pig

Imagine you have a neighbor whose got an old junker up on blocks in his front yard. You tell him it's ruining the neighborhood and ask him to do something about it. The next day you come home from work and your neighbor has a beer in one hand and a paintbrush in the other. He's putting the finishing touches on the car and now he has an old junker up on blocks in his front yard with Rolls Royce painted across the hood. And he's even got the fancy RR logo – or his interpretation of it right – in the middle.

Not all newspapers have a spiritual advisor, but we had one until last week when Deacon Paul Teich died after a long period of failing health.

It's fun to go to the ACC

I grew up in Greensboro so by definition I love the ACC tournament. I remember sitting in grade school at St. Pius looking at the empty seats of Guy Andrews and others, knowing that those lucky kids had tickets to the ACC.
