I thought about my father because I don't think there was ever a time when I crossed the street with him when he didn't at least try to take hold of my hand. When I was little I found it as comforting as getting down under the covers on a cold night. I didn't think anything bad could possibly happen to me while I was holding my father's hand. |

Page 2 ColumnImagine you have a neighbor whose got an old junker up on blocks in his front yard. You tell him it's ruining the neighborhood and ask him to do something about it. The next day you come home from work and your neighbor has a beer in one hand and a paintbrush in the other. He's putting the finishing touches on the car and now he has an old junker up on blocks in his front yard with Rolls Royce painted across the hood. And he's even got the fancy RR logo – or his interpretation of it right – in the middle. |

Page 2 ColumnI grew up in Greensboro so by definition I love the ACC tournament. I remember sitting in grade school at St. Pius looking at the empty seats of Guy Andrews and others, knowing that those lucky kids had tickets to the ACC. |
