...continued from page 2

As she was finishing her lunch, a supporter came up, apologized for not making the swearing-in ceremony and asked how she was doing.

He asked, "No headaches?"

Sims responded, "That's why they make Advil."

It appears as if Mayor Sims is somehow intimidated by Coy Willard. Why? She won. So why does she KEEP bringing him up in a negative context?
I have NO doubt she will attempt to make her term a FOUR year term...no surprises there...power is difficult to give up.
I'm saddened, though not surprised, that she will NOT revisit the BLOATED budget this year, as I do believe SHE was the one who said she didn't KNOW that she along with the rest of the Council Members, were suppose to go over the budget, line and by line and attempt to find ways to cut costs.
So no, NO surprises here...same old country club members doing their business as usual, with NO thought to the taxpayer.

    Coy Willard????

I don't understand why Bernita Sims keeps "harping" on Coy Willard? It makes no sense to me. She won, Coy lost. Is she trying to rub salt into wounds, or is she just continuing her bragging about her win?
IF Bernita Sims thinks she won some kind of mandate, she couldn't be more wrong. She ONLY won because this Council did away with primaries, and because High Point allowed two people to be on the ballot that were no longer running...one was not even legal TO run for anything here in High Point.
Coy Willard is a gentleman. He has taken the high road at every ugly comment thrown at him...he has never once, to my knowledge, ever responded with anything but grace and love...something that Ms.Sims should learn from Mr. Willard.
I fear now for High Point....I think we are in for a world of hurt. NO accounting for the many tax dollars that Bernita Sims spent on her own Coletrane Festival, no re-visiting the budget, rising taxes and utility costs, and now she has taken a power grab by getting rid of much needed committees.
Bernita Sims? I caution you...you are NOT our Ruler, and you can and hopefully will be replaced at the next election. I would urge you to move carefully, and with some kind of accountability to we the voter, who PAY for everything.

How does she explain the lower tax and utility rates in ALL of NC's larger cities, and will she continue to fund personal interest non profits with tax monies and absolutely no disclosure of where it all went? Will she continue to sit on boards that vote tax monies for themselves? Will she look at the city as a unit to be made whole or her own "solid south" as an area to be financed by the rest? Will she continue to be the puppet of Smothers and new sister to fellow spender Mendenhall while being backed up by Moore and Wagner on spend first/tax later project? High Point is headed for the hole we can't see out of, and there appears no salvation on the horizon, especially with a commissioner like Davis to back up the shennagins from the county's side.
